Gaisce Project
Gaisce, President's Award
The majority of the class will participate in this programme at either the Bronze or Silver level.
The programme consists of a Community section which is with the CBS Transition year students. This year the project is an art based one as it enables our students to participate fully without worring about academics. This project was chosen as it:
-
It allows our students to integrate into their community.
-
It develops self-esteem and confidence.
-
It encourages independent thinking and expression of ideas.
The second part of the award is a personal skill.
This year to tie in with their QQI programme students will be develping cookery skills. This will include healthy choices, budgeting and kitchen
safety.
The physical skill this year will be self-defense and meditation. This is to promote an awareness of students physical space, appropriate boundaries and alternatives to aggression.
The programmme will completed by two day adventure trip.
